Great work again from Ben Long saw him feed Lewis Wigley whose venomous shot was saved by the Jets goalie. It was Lewis Wigley who opened the scoring having been put through by Jake Mansel. Straight from the kick off the Jets were level when everybody watched them go straight through to equalise. Luke Stephenson's volley from the edge of the box extended the Mavericks lead. It was Jake Mansel who then sent the Mavericks 3 - 1 up when he ceased on a poor clearance to fire the ball home. William Pearce grabbed his first goal of the season shortly afterwards to put the Mavericks 4 - 1 up. At this point when we seemed to be coasting we hit the self destruct button and allowed the Jets to pull back the goals and draw up the scores. Great movement between Ben Long fed Lewis Wigley who in turn put Jake Mansel through to score what was a fantastic goal. This sent the Mavericks in at the break one goal up and settled the nerves. Again two defensive mistakes saw the Mavericks behind early doors on a foggy Sunday afternoon. A quickly taken Mavericks free kick saw Lewis Wigley net however, the referee pulled it straight back and disallowed the goal. Honours were pretty much even as the Mavericks Harry Mennell and Marcus Lee put in solid defensive performances. George Hill went close with a 20 yard free kick before Altofts were awarded a penalty, for reasons I do no know why which sent them in 3 - 0 at half time. Altofts commenced the second half as they did in the first as they bombarded the Mavericks goal which saw Robbie Frostick dominant in his nets. Jake Mansel put Lewis Wigley through with the latter having a penalty awarded from which Luke Stephenson converted well. Numerous dubious deisions were made by the referee which seemed to aggravate the Mavericks players. The direct approach clearance from Robbie Frostick saw him put through Lewis Wigley to get a consolation goal for the Mavericks. |
The opening ten minutes of the game saw chances few and far between however, Barugh raced into a 2 - 0 lead but great work by William Pearce saw him put through Lewis Wigley to pull one back. It was Barugh who went in 3 - 1 up at the break with their heads up after hearing some of the Mavericks players bicker amongst themselves. As the second half commenced certain parts of the Mavericks defence collapsed as Barugh raced into an 8 - 1 lead. The Mavericks squandered many an opportunity went through one on one which could have really drawn the game back. The Mavericks did finally seize one of these opportunities when Lewis Wigley netted. However it was Barugh that ran out as 10 - 2 winners however, this could have been considerably more for Barugh had it not been for the Mavericks goal keeper and man of the match Robbie Frostick who pulled off some fantastic saves. IN MY EYES THIS GAME WAS LOST BY SILLY BICKERING AND NOT PLAYING AS A TEAM BUT WELL DONE FOR KEEPING GOING RIGHT TO THE FINAL WHISTLE.
