Fielding a team with only seven players in still due to illnesses the Mavericks came up against a Guiseley team with 15 girls in. Guiseley raced into an early lead and saw them 3 - 0 up. A change of goal keepers saw Georgia Green between the sticks where she pulled off some fantastic saves to keep Guisley at bay. Great link up play from the Mavericks saw Zara Mansel pull one back with Sharny Firth getting on the score sheet to send the game 6 - 2 at half time. Having changed their full squad and having fresh legs, Guiseley started the second half in a similar fashion to how they started the first and increased their lead. A change of goal keepers again saw Georgia Green go outfield and twice muscle her way through the Guisley defence only for her shots to land the wrong side of the post. Sharny Firth grabbed a great second goal with a finely taken 30 yard effort. Having only seven players due to illnesses, the Mavericks faced a full squad at Normanton. Making their numerical advantage pay Normanton soon raced to a 2 - 0 lead. Great linking play, whilst kicking up the hill saw Sharny Firth net for the Mavericks from just inside the box. The game went in at half time 3 - 1 to Normanton. Kicking down hill in the second half saw Zara Mansel put through one on one with the keeper only to see her 20 yard effort go agonisingly wide much to the cheering and delight of the Normanton supporters !!! The Mavericks pressed and pressed and it was Kerri-Lee Mennell who found herself on the end of a 'Chris Morgan like elbow' which saw the referee then award a goal kick to Normanton. It was Kerri-Lee Mennell who had the last laugh as shortly afterwards as she found the net. Tired legs and heavy boots saw the Mavericks fall further behind as Normantons numerical advantage was too much. A great through ball from Anna Hawden saw Sharny Firth race in on goal with the referee giving offside for a player who was not in contention for getting the ball. A challenge by Natasha Frostick saw Normanton awarded a free kick which seemed very harsh as when Kerri-Lee Mennell was elbowed in the face nothing was awarded.
